6903-6911 N. John Ave (The Lena)

The Lena is a pretty typical 1960's shoebox style apartment. We acquired this building in April 2006, and have been undoing years of neglect. So far we've focused the majority our energy on the interior of the apartments, but we recently got going on the outside and are happy to see it looking a whole lot smarter. If you scroll all the way down, there's a picture of how it looked when we started, so you can see how excited we are!

Each apartment will be getting a new mid-century style 5-paned glass door (see 6905). The old stairs and railings will be rebuilt, using taut steel cables in place of the verticle stiles.

Our landscaping plans are still shaping up. But we'll definitely be adding stairs down to Edison St and the John Community Garden below. For any renters with a green thumb, we will see about renting you a space in the garden to go with your apartment.
